Turkish exports to neighboring states reached 23 billion dollars in the first ten months of the year, Anadolu Agency reports.
According to data from Türkiye’s Ministry of Trade, published by Anadolu Agency, the country’s total exports from January to October rose by 3.9% compared to the same period last year, reaching 224.6 billion dollars.
During this period, Türkiye supplied goods worth 22,926,591,000 dollars to neighboring countries — Azerbaijan, Bulgaria, Georgia, Iran, Iraq, Syria, and Greece. A year earlier this figure stood at 22,121,129,000 dollars. Thus, exports to these countries increased by 3.6% year-on-year.
Iraq again became the largest destination for Turkish exports, receiving around 8.3 billion dollars’ worth of goods. Bulgaria ranks second with 3.8 billion dollars, followed by Greece with 3 billion dollars and Georgia with 2.1 billion dollars.
The fastest growth from January to October was recorded in exports to Syria — around 52%, as well as to Greece (7.6%) and Azerbaijan (7.4%).
Among the sectors, the chemical industry remains the leader in exports to neighboring countries, with shipments totaling 3,581,841,000 dollars. It is followed by the grain, legumes, oilseeds and related products segment (2,596,690,000 dollars), and metallurgy — steel exports reached 1,731,119,000 dollars.
The smallest volume of exports came from the category of decorative plants and products made from them — 32,469,000 dollars.
The automotive industry is the absolute No. 1 in Türkiye’s exports, ahead of agriculture and food products. They are followed by machinery and equipment, as well as textiles and clothing, with Europe serving as the main sales market. Metallurgy also makes a significant contribution, while the defense and aerospace industry is the fastest-growing sector.
