From January to September 2025, Turkish airports served 187.4 million passengers, including transit travelers, according to Transport and Infrastructure Minister Abdulkadir Uraloğlu, citing data from the General Directorate of State Airports Authority (DHMİ).
According to the report, passenger traffic in the first nine months of the year increased by 7.6% compared to the same period last year. During this time, 756,659 domestic and 711,652 international flights were operated across the country. Including transit flights, the total number of operations reached 1.8 million, also up by 7.6% year-on-year.
In September 2025, Turkish airports handled around 9.5 million domestic and 12.2 million international passengers. The total number, including direct transit passengers, reached approximately 24.7 million — a 10.5% increase compared to September last year.
The number of take-offs and landings in September reached 239,335 — 92,573 of them on domestic routes, 94,799 on international routes, and the rest on transit and technical flights.
According to DHMİ data, the country’s largest airport, IGA Istanbul Airport, handled 62.8 million passengers and 410,571 flights in the first nine months of 2025. Sabiha Gökçen Airport, located on Istanbul’s Asian side, processed 35.6 million passengers and 202,965 flights, while the Atatürk Executive Airport handled 21,835 flights.
