Turkey Raises the Vehicle Price Limit Eligible for ÖTV Exemption

The Turkish Ministry of Treasury and Finance has officially published a clarification (Tebliğ, Series No. 16) increasing the maximum price limit for vehicles that can be purchased with an exemption fr om the Special Consumption Tax (ÖTV).

Previously, the maximum price of a vehicle eligible for the exemption was 2,290,200 Turkish lira.
As of January 1, 2026, this lim it has been increased to 2,873,900 lira.

This change expands the list of vehicles available under the program. The exemption now applies not only to base models but also to higher-priced vehicles, including certain SUVs and electric cars, depending on their configuration and price. In particular, this may include models such as Togg, Duster, Toyota C-HR, Corolla, Megane, Bayon, and others.

At the same time, participants must comply with the program’s conditions:

  • the vehicle may not be sold for 10 years;

  • the vehicle must be used personally by the owner;

  • in case of violation, the ÖTV will be reassessed retroactively, including penalties and interest.

In addition, vehicles purchased with an ÖTV exemption are also exempt fr om the annual Motor Vehicle Tax (MTV).

The increase in the lim it is considered a positive development for program participants; however, experts recommend checking eligibility and documentation in advance to avoid potential tax and legal risks in the future.
