Türkiye’s busiest air hubs — the airports of Istanbul and Antalya — have broken their own records for passenger traffic. According to the authorities, on July 26, Antalya Airport handled over 225,000 passengers, including 104,359 arrivals in a single day. The next day, July 27, Istanbul Airport served more than 272,000 passengers, setting an all-time record in its history.
Türkiye’s Minister of Tourism, Mehmet Nuri Ersoy, stated that in July alone, Antalya welcomed 2.3 million tourists, and since the beginning of the year — over 8.5 million.
“Antalya is no longer just a resort, but a global leader in tourism. This record was made possible thanks to investments, coordinated work in the sector, and the hospitality of the Turkish people,” the minister said.
According to the 2024 UNWTO report, Türkiye ranked 4th in the world for the number of international tourists — 56.7 million people.
On July 25, 2025, the foundation stone was laid for a major infrastructure project — a highway connecting Antalya and Alanya. Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Abdulkadir Uraloğlu stated:
“This project will become a key link in the transport infrastructure of our region, connecting two major tourist hubs and providing unprecedented comfort for residents and visitors of our country.”
Estimates show that the new road will reduce travel time between Antalya and Alanya from 2.5 hours to just 36 minutes. Completion of construction is expected in 2028.
Experts predict that the opening of the highway will lead to a 15–25% increase in property prices in nearby areas within three years of launch. Tourist numbers are also expected to grow by 18–22%.
