Türkiye: Zoning plans and fault line maps are now available online

UCBS via e-Devlet has opened public access to a wide range of geo-data essential for choosing real estate.

The Ministry of Environment, Urbanization and Climate Change has provided citizens with access to 100 geographic data layers of the National Geodata Platform (UCBS https://tucbs.gov.tr/) through the e-Devlet system. Previously, these datasets were available only to public institutions — the platform contains a total of 630 layers.

Now any user can view key information on the map for areas where they live or plan to invest. Available data include zoning plans, fault lines, seismic risks, treasury lands, infrastructure projects, environmental protection zones, and areas designated for development.

The platform allows users to quickly obtain a complete set of information about a plot: land status, auction dates, nearby railway lines, port connections, protected areas, and industrial zones. All information is displayed through interactive maps, which significantly simplifies analysis.

Available layers cover a wide range of topics:
• national and natural parks, specially protected areas, wetlands
• erosion maps, desertification maps, and soil organic carbon content
• natural monuments, caves, hot springs
• population density, meteorological stations, emergency assembly points

Thanks to UCBS, citizens and investors can view Treasury lands available for lease, sale, servitude, or investment incentives. The system displays location, size, status, and tender dates, helping users make data-driven decisions. Government institutions also accelerate project planning and real estate management through unified data access.

An important feature of the platform is the display of hazard zones: seismic zones, landslide and avalanche risk areas, and flood-prone zones. This makes disaster risk management and preparedness more effective.

What data categories are available

The platform provides access to the following map layers:
• industrial zones, organized industrial zones (OIZ), and technology development zones
• zoning plans
• protected natural areas
• wind energy zones
• water and wind erosion maps
• environmental plans
• soil organic carbon
• population data
• monuments, caves
• coastline and urban atlases
• national and natural parks
• orthophoto maps
• flood evacuation zones
• wildlife development areas

What is UCBS — Ulusal Coğrafi Bilgi Platformu

The National Geographic Information Platform was developed by the Ministry of Environment in cooperation with TÜRKSAT AŞ. It became accessible to citizens and public institutions via e-Devlet on January 1, 2025. Within a year, the number of users increased from 14,000 to over 400,000. Out of 630 data layers available to government bodies, 100 are now open to the public.
