Türkiye’s foreign trade hits record levels
Türkiye’s foreign trade in Turkish Lira reached a record 1.06 trillion liras in the first nine months of the year, marking a 33% increase compared to the same period in 2024, according to the Ministry of Trade.
From January to September, exports rose by 4.1% year-on-year to $200.6 billion. In January, exports in lira increased by 20.4% to 26.3 billion liras, while imports grew by 47.2% to 70.3 billion liras. The total foreign trade volume in the national currency for the month reached 96.6 billion liras.
In August, exports amounted to 25.4 billion liras, almost unchanged from the previous year, while imports rose by 30.7% to 88.4 billion liras. The total monthly trade volume reached 113.8 billion liras.
In September, exports in lira increased by 4.8% to 27.1 billion liras, while imports jumped by 38.3% to 91.5 billion liras. As a result, the total foreign trade volume for the month reached 118.6 billion liras.
Between January and September, exports in Turkish Lira rose by 9.4%, from 222.1 billion to 242.9 billion liras. Imports during the same period increased by 42%, from 577.4 billion to 820.1 billion liras. The total foreign trade volume reached 1.063 trillion liras, compared to 799.6 billion a year earlier — a record high for a nine-month period.
The Ministry also reported that in September, exports in Turkish Lira were carried out with 165 countries, with 30,668 companies using the national currency in their foreign trade transactions.
