Türkiye has approved a centralized budget for 2026 amounting to 18.9 trillion Turkish lira.
The main spending priorities include education, healthcare, agriculture, and defense.
Vice President Cevdet Yılmaz presented the document at the budget signing ceremony, noting that the country’s economy “continues to advance on the basis of stability, productivity, and fiscal discipline.”
He emphasized that the new budget was prepared with a focus on “sustainability and prosperity.”
In 2024, the economy grew by 3.3%, with the same rate expected in 2025, and an increase to 3.8% projected for 2026.
The unemployment rate is forecast to fall to 8.4%, and inflation to 16% by the end of 2026.
Medium-Term Program and Priorities
Yılmaz highlighted that the Medium-Term Program aims to strengthen financial stability, maintain budget discipline, and achieve single-digit inflation.
“The main goal is to increase economic productivity. The ability to prepare a balanced budget is the most important sign of political stability,” he said.
He reminded that this is the 24th budget of the AK Party government and the 8th under the Presidential System.
Reconstruction of Earthquake-Affected Regions
Special attention is given to rebuilding the southern provinces affected by the earthquake and creating disaster-resilient cities.
“The reconstruction and revival of the affected regions will remain among our top priorities,” said Yılmaz.
