Alanya continues to move forward: renovations are underway, new social facilities are opening, and the road network is improving. At the same time, a significant part of the city’s old debts has already been paid off.
Financial results
Mayor Osman Tarık Özçelik announced that during his term, the municipality was taken out of a monthly deficit of 73 million Turkish lira into a profit of 3.5 million lira. Debts for 2022 and 2023 have been settled, while the debt for 2024 has been reduced to 2 million lira. Overall, the amount of old debts has decreased to 5 million lira.
“We have no overdue debt from any investments made during our administration,” the mayor emphasized.
Infrastructure renovation
Maintenance is ongoing on several municipal buildings, including wedding halls in Kestel, Demirtaş, and Avsallar, the tile workshop in Mahmutlar, and the Alanya Cultural Center.
For example, repairing the drainage system of the tile workshop alone requires 600,000 lira. In the Cultural Center, sound and lighting systems have been renewed, and a new LED screen costing about 5 million lira has been installed.
New projects:
-
A new public café will soon open in Avsallar, with tender preparations nearly complete.
-
The renovation of Barış Manço Park is nearing completion, with green areas and roads being upgraded.
-
Plans for a new Cultural Palace are underway, with a project competition scheduled before the end of the year.
-
The old municipal building will undergo major reconstruction, designed together with architect Vedat Dalokay.
Social initiatives
Before the new school year, the municipality will provide backpacks and stationery to more than one thousand students. In addition, nearly 500 children received free circumcision procedures organized by the municipality.
Roads and parking
A controlled parking system is being introduced in Avsallar and other parts of the city. Over the past two months, nearly 45 kilometers of roads have been resurfaced and 10 kilometers of hot asphalt laid, including key routes such as Demirkapı, Dağdere, Söğüt, Gökbel, and others.
New facilities
A new bookstore has opened in Alanya (Çamlıca neighborhood, Kadıpaşa), located at İkizler Street, No. 28, opposite Belen Mosque.
