A New Life for Nature: Five Thousand Trees to Be Planted in Çatalköy and Esentepe
The Forestry Department of Northern Cyprus and Cyprus Constructions have signed a protocol for the joint planting of five thousand trees in the Çatalköy and Esentepe regions. The project is carried out with the participation of Forestry Director Ercan Poyraz and company representative Seydi Ahmet Keskin (Califorian Trading Ltd). The goal of the initiative is to protect ecosystems, combat soil erosion, and reduce the region’s carbon footprint. The first saplings will be planted in the coming weeks.
Festival of Beer and Music: Celebration in Alsancak
On October 18, the long-awaited Heaven Beer Fest will take place at the Alsancak Freedom National Park (Alsancak Özgürlük Milli Parkı). The event will be held at The Heaven Restaurant & Café from 14:00 until midnight. Guests will enjoy performances by DJs and bands such as Blue Tears, Grup Araf, Serdar Tuksal Quintet, and Ahmet Evan, along with contests, games, and a true Bavarian atmosphere.
Oktoberfest in Kyrenia: German Traditions and Special Beer
On October 25, the traditional Oktoberfest will be held at Gave Square. Visitors can enjoy Brewart beer, freshly baked German pretzels from Kolektif Kitchen, and live music. Organizers promise an authentic German celebration with plenty of surprises and fun lasting late into the night. The event starts at 18:00.
Kyrenia Half Marathon: Running for a Good Cause
On November 2, Kyrenia will host the 6th Pasha Group Girne Half Marathon, organized by the city municipality with the support of Grand Pasha Hotel. Mayor Murat Şenkul announced that all proceeds will be used to purchase equipment for the fire department.
Participants can choose from distances of 21 km, 10 km, 3 km (community run), and a new 1 km children’s race. Registration opens on October 12. The main race starts at 6:45 a.m., with total prize money of 435,000 liras. The children’s race is free, and all young runners will receive medals and gifts.
Pegasus Launches New Route: Ercan — Istanbul Airport
As of October 1, Pegasus Airlines operates direct flights from Ercan Airport to the new Istanbul Airport. In honor of the first flight, passengers received “First Flight” certificates, roses, and commemorative cards.
Pegasus Regional Director for TRNC Zeki Ziya stated that the airline now performs 45 flights per week, holding around 60% of the market. With the new route, the number of destinations increased to 11. From October 23, the flights will become daily and later increase to twice per day.
New Air Route: AJet Connects Izmir and Northern Cyprus
Starting October 26, AJet launches daily direct flights between Izmir and Northern Cyprus. Tickets are already available at a starting price of 1,000 liras. Departures from Izmir are scheduled for 18:45, with return flights from Cyprus at 20:05. The new route will simplify travel and strengthen transport connections between the regions.
Varosha to Open Wider: A New Chapter for a Historic Landmark
Prime Minister Ünal Üstel announced plans for further opening of the abandoned resort Varosha, which has already been visited by more than two million tourists. Authorities aim to provide access to state buildings and integrate the area into the national economy. Üstel emphasized that the government’s goal for the coming years is the full integration of Varosha into the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus and its development as a key tourism and economic hub.
