Antalya Airport, a key gateway to one of Turkey's most popular tourist destinations, is entering a new era. Starting from April 11, 2024, the renovated Antalya Airport will begin welcoming passengers in a completely new format: with modernized terminals, expanded infrastructure, and record-breaking passenger capacity.
Large-scale reconstruction
As part of an extensive reconstruction project, the total terminal area increased from 191,000 m² to 330,000 m². Two key facilities underwent significant expansion:
-
International Terminal 2 grew by 140% — from 93,000 m² to 223,000 m².
-
Domestic Terminal 1 doubled in size — from 37,000 m² to 75,000 m².
Thanks to these changes, the airport's capacity will increase from 35 million to 82 million passengers per year. The aircraft parking infrastructure has also been significantly expanded: the number of aircraft stands increased from 108 to 176.
A grand opening ceremony for the new terminal will take place on April 11, 2024, with the participation of Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, as well as representatives of the tourism industry and local authorities.
The modernization of Antalya Airport is not only about improving passenger comfort but also serves as a powerful driver for regional development. Increased passenger flow and growing tourism activity are boosting demand for hotels, residential properties, and commercial real estate in the surrounding areas.
According to forecasts, by 2040 Antalya Airport will have four fully operational terminals, making it one of the largest airports in Europe. This development opens up extensive opportunities for investors — both in tourism and real estate development sectors.
Record-breaking figures in 2024
2024 has already become a milestone year for Turkey's aviation sector. Antalya Airport ranks among the leaders in both passenger traffic and service quality. According to EUROCONTROL, Turkey is among the top 6 countries in Europe by the number of flights, with an average of 3,140 flights per day. Moreover, the average flight delay time in Turkish airspace is less than 0.5 minutes per flight, one of the best rates in Europe.
In addition, Turkey set a financial record in 2024: revenue from the country’s airspace usage reached 24.8 billion lira, highlighting aviation as a strategic economic sector.
Tourist traffic is increasing, investor interest is rising, and the region is gaining additional opportunities for economic growth.
