Alanya University Rises in Rankings and Receives Record Funding

The budget of Alanya Alaaddin Keykubat University (ALKÜ) for 2026 is set at 2.224 billion Turkish lira, marking an increase of 34.24% compared to the previous year. The data was published in the Official Gazette of the Presidential Administration as part of the Medium-Term Program for 2026–2028.

Of the total budget, 1.82 billion lira will go toward operating expenses and 403 million for capital investments. Compared to 2025, operating expenses grew by 35.13%, and capital expenditures by 30.34%. For comparison, the central government’s budget rose by 28.45%, and that of special budget administrations by 20.26%, meaning ALKU’s growth far exceeded the national averages.

University officials note that this increase reflects the government’s strong support for higher education. Rector Prof. Kenan Ahmet Türkdoğan emphasized that the more than one-third rise in funding will strengthen ALKU’s infrastructure, expand research capacity, and enhance education quality. Additional investments will also accelerate regional development projects. The university aims to justify this trust by training qualified professionals and contributing to Turkey’s development goals.

ALKÜ’s Growth and Achievements

The university continues to show consistent progress and academic success. In the 2025–2026 URAP ranking of Turkish universities, ALKU climbed 10 positions, from 128th to 118th among 198 institutions. In the ranking of universities with medical faculties, it advanced from 91st to 83rd place.

The URAP study, prepared by the Informatics Institute of Middle East Technical University (METU), evaluates universities based on 15 academic indicators, including the number of publications, citations, student-to-faculty ratio, and collaborative research projects.

Rector Türkdoğan noted that in just a decade, ALKU has become a competitive university, showing strong growth in scientific productivity, internationalization, and social impact. The university conducts projects supported by TÜBİTAK, the European Union, and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, while also developing student research and innovation.

The creation of TEKNOPARK has become a major step in strengthening the university’s innovation ecosystem. In recent years, ALKU has developed applied and research centers in health, tourism, engineering, and agricultural technologies — projects that benefit not only Alanya but also Turkey as a whole. A new campus is currently under construction in the Cikcilli district, covering approximately 851,000 m².

The rector emphasized that ALKU’s rise in the URAP ranking reflects the teamwork of the entire university. Its goal is to strengthen its position both nationally and internationally so that the name ALKU is recognized across Turkey and beyond. Türkdoğan expressed gratitude to faculty, students, and staff for their contributions, adding that ALKU will continue building a sustainable culture of excellence in science, arts, sports, and social responsibility.
