Antalya–Alanya Highway — latest project updates
Construction of the Antalya–Alanya highway has started
On July 25, the official groundbreaking ceremony of the new Antalya–Alanya highway took place, and work has already begun. The road, with a total length of 122 km, will connect Serik and Konaklı, including 84 km of the main highway and 38 km of connecting sections.
The route will start from the Serik intersection, then run along the foothills of the Taurus Mountains, and end at the western entrance to Alanya — in the Konaklı area. Residents are making suggestions for route adjustments, and some changes have already been approved. For example, the cemetery in Çakallar will remain in place, and a new mosque will be built instead of the one slated for demolition.
The project includes:
-
7 interchanges
-
5 tunnels with a total length of 4,365 m
-
16 viaducts with a total length of 5,966 m
-
4 road service areas
After being put into operation, the highway will reduce the travel time from Antalya to Alanya from the current 2.5–3 hours. The annual savings are expected to reach 17.7 billion lira, while CO₂ emissions will decrease by around 47,000 tons per year.
Representatives of the 13th Regional Directorate of Highways, district leaders, and local residents held joint meetings. According to Mehmet Sharani Tavlı, head of the Justice and Development Party branch, it was possible to comprehensively discuss the highway route, access roads, and citizens’ wishes.
Latest news on the Alanya–Konya road
The new Alanya–Konya road will significantly improve regional traffic. In the districts of Kaplanhane, Karapınar, and Çayarası, new tunnels and roads with a length of 25 km are under construction. The project is expected to be completed next year, improving both safety and travel convenience.
Alanya district governor Şakir Öner Öztürk emphasized that the completion of construction will be an important step towards solving the region’s transport problems, especially during the winter period. He expressed gratitude to President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, the Minister of Transport and Infrastructure, Antalya governor Hulusi Şahin, and other officials for supporting the project.
