The October session of the municipal council was held in Alanya under the leadership of Osman Tarık Özçelik. The council approved the 2026 budget amounting to 8.53 billion liras, which is 27% higher than the previous year.
Projects and infrastructure
Mayor Özçelik announced that the city had achieved record figures in concrete and asphalt production — 103,000 tons of asphalt were produced in nine months, along with a record amount of concrete since 2019.
In the coming weeks, road works will be completed in the districts of Payallar, Kestel, Demirtaş, Mahmutlar, and on the Hadim plateau.
Solar energy
Construction has begun on a 2.5 MW solar power plant. The project, valued at 59.7 million liras, is expected to be commissioned soon.
Animals and ecology
The mayor stated that expansion of the animal shelter in Demirtaş is not yet possible, as the project has not been approved by the Forestry Department.
However, the shelter has been modernized — with new X-ray equipment, a laboratory, operating rooms, and veterinarians.
After recent fires, the city will allocate funds to distribute 10,000 olive and carob seedlings to strengthen green zones and reduce the risk of new fires.
Culture and community life
In September, Alanya hosted the 7th Book Fair under the motto “Reading makes things greener”.
The event featured 80 publishers and over 100 authors.
The city is also preparing for the Tropical Fruit Festival (October 10–12) and a 10 km hiking route “Keykubat Göç ve Kervan Yolu” (from Mahmutseydi to Çıplaklı, on October 19).
On October 10, the new season of the Alanya Municipal Theatre will open.
Sports
Alanya will host the 34th Triathlon Championship under the slogan “Halfway to the finish line”.
For the first time, there will be a para-triathlon and a public race. The event is already being promoted in Istanbul on neon screens.
Finance and debts
According to the mayor, the municipality’s debt as of September 31 amounts to 1.02 billion liras, of which 769 million were inherited from the previous administration.
He emphasized that no tenders after March 31 were conducted at inflated prices and that payments on debts and SGK (social security) contributions continue regularly.
