In 2024, Alanya, one of Turkey’s most popular resorts, showed steady growth in tourism activity. According to official data, the total number of overnight stays increased by 10–15%, reaching 22 million. Tourism revenues amounted to approximately €1.1 billion. Average hotel occupancy rose to 80–85%, compared to no more than 65% the previous year.
Alanya actively welcomes cruise ships, as demonstrated by the recent arrival of the Marella Discovery 2 under the flag of the Bahamas. The 265-meter-long vessel brought 1,795 tourists (mainly from the UK) and 729 crew members to the port. The guests spent the day exploring Alanya, visiting landmarks, shopping, dining in restaurants and cafes. In the evening, the ship continued its route toward Rhodes.
In addition to its developed tourist infrastructure, Alanya attracts visitors with its historical and natural heritage. Key attractions include the medieval castle, the Red Tower, the Tersane shipyard, Damlataş Cave, and the Dim Çay river with restaurants on the water. Thanks to its excellent location, beautiful beaches, and a wide range of entertainment, the city consistently ranks among the top destinations for international travelers.
In 2024, Alanya’s port hosted 17 cruise ships, serving around 15,000 tourists. In 2025, the number of cruise visits is expected to grow, including regular visits from the Marella Discovery 2, which is scheduled to arrive in Alanya on May 13, June 3, June 24, August 12, August 13, September 23, and October 21. Other vessels expected include Oceania Marina, ms Oosterdam, Oceania Nautica, Seven Seas Navigator, Seven Seas Voyager, AIDAstella, Azamara Quest, and Marella Discovery—showing the growing interest of cruise lines in Alanya.
